In regards to your question about the compatibility of media files with your R-Link device, below I provide you with some more information about this matter as well as a list of the compatibility for music, video and image files.
– SD Card for music and video on R-Link –
The R-Link allows the possibility to use a personal SD Card, different than the one delivered with the car, to play music and video on the device. By using such a personal SD Card in place of the R-Link one you won’t have the possibility to use the navigation feature or the computer voice as both of these are saved on the R-Link SD Card.
In case you would like to use a personal card please bear in mind that the compatible ones with the R-Link are: SD or SDHC.

R-Link Video format compatibility:
– Extension format : .mp4, .avi, .3gpp, .wmv. These may have some settings limitations per extension format, which are explained in further detail below.
Full explanation:
– MPEG4 SP/ASP / H263 Decode (up to WVGA 30fps 4Mbps)
=> YES (Yes, SP up to WVGA. ASP only tested with variable bitrate with peaks of > 4 MBPS)
File extension can be .mp4. Some .avi files encoded with the mp4 format can be read (compatibility with Divx or Xvic file is not sure).
– H264 BL Decode (up to WVGA 30fps 4Mbps)
=> YES (Yes, but not smooth if it contains an audio stream or if profile level exceeds 3.2)
File extension can be .3gpp (video files coming from smartphones).
– WMV9 SP/MP/AP / VC1 Decode (up to WVGA 30fps 4Mbps)
=> YES (YES, but most WMV’s only work after several retries once. Logging shows that there is something wrong with the color format)
File extension can be .wmv.
Also certain properties of the files, won’t allow these to be read which causes the system to pass directly onto the next video. Some of these include:
– If files have more than 4Go.
– Subtitles can’t be read.
– Moreover, some files which have specifics restrictions cannot be read.
– If the refreshing speed is more than 30 images per second.
– If the output is more than 4Mo per second
– If the resolution is more than 800 points x 480 points
– R-Link Image format compatibility:
– JPEG
– GIF
– PNG
– BMP
